The Other Subject is a series of coaching programmes and workshops that help pupils and staff live happier, healthier and more productive lives. Nearly all of our programmes/workshops can be delivered by school staff trained by our team of specialists. This empowers schools to really take charge and revolutionise wellbeing within their communities. We call it 'The Other Subject', because we believe that what we teach is as important as any other subject on the curriculum, especially given many of the challenges that face our children in today’s world.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING WITH NMC

WHAT SCHOOLS ARE SAYING ABOUT US

I couldn’t recommend this course enough – in fact in almost twenty years of teaching and leading in schools, it has to be one of the best pastoral care trainings that I have done. When I first heard about the course I was dubious about how and whether coaching would work in an infant school. However, now that I have done the training I realise that this work is essential early on to build the independence, resilience and regulation tools needed to thrive in the world. Do it and do it fast as this simple curriculum of coaching programmes really does have the power to revolutionise pastoral care and wellbeing in your school – no matter the age of your pupils. Headmaster – Falcon Boys Pre-Prep
“An inspiring, insightful and highly relevant course that was so useful on both a professional and personal level. It was delivered in an open, reflective and supportive environment with trainers who expertly guided the participants through a series of valuable coaching tools that could be used to explore many aspects of well-being with students. Just brilliant.”
Deputy Head - The Royal High Junior School, Bath
“I found the OS Course neatly packaged in a format that I would feel very comfortable using. The structure of the sessions was empowering and the course booklet was extremely useful. The OS trainers listened carefully to all the participants and there was a strong emphasis on exploring the techniques being taught. Being immersed in coaching in this way and drawing upon the expertise in the room was invaluable. I thoroughly enjoyed the course.”
Head of KS1 - Maths - Kensington Prep School
“An exciting and innovative training course with a good balance of theory, discussion and practical activities. I left with an invaluable set of tools that I could use in order to support students who may have lost their sense of purpose and direction.”
Head of Year 11 - Wimbledon High School
“An empowering and insightful training course that will be useful in either one-to-one sessions with our students or teaching a year group how they can empower themselves by using coaching methodology. The course was well-structured with excellent resources and activities that can be easily used in a variety of situations. The OS trainers were highly experienced yet took time to consider how activities could be adapted to benefit all. I thoroughly enjoyed the course.”
Deputy Director of Sixth Form & Head of Psychology - Northwood College for Girls
“The training was both informative and stimulating. Lots of practical tools to give confidence in delivery and guidance, and inspiring ideas to develop my own self- evaluating skills. The interaction with others in the group and the secure and relaxed environment allowed me to really engage with the coaching programmes and see how they could be very effectively used in both a one-to-one or classroom situation. It was a very enjoyable course delivered by knowledgeable and inspiring OS trainers.”
Head of DT - South Hampstead High School
“This course was absolutely brilliant, really original and I loved the way that all the learning was experiential so that we could try out the coaching programmes for ourselves. So in addition to learning tools to help support our pupils I also got a personal benefit from them. It also helped us jump into the worlds of the students we teach, helping us build more empathy and understanding of the type of issues they face in the modern world. A very valuable course and would recommend it to all staff working in schools. We all need to do more to facilitate wellbeing development and maturation alongside academic attainment and The Other Subject is a great start.
